PowerPoint Version
Truth for Today, Hope for Tomorrow is a complete ready to preach set of evangelistic sermons. It contains 27 sermons (see
subjects). You have two options to choose from for how to present the sermons. The DVD option can be used with inexpensive DVD players and is simple to use, but does not allow you to make changes to the programs. The other option is to use a computer and present the sermons from Microsoft PowerPoint. The PowerPoint version of the disk contains pre-built PowerPoint programs ready to present to the audience. If your laptop has the capability, the Sermon Synchronizer software makes presenting the subjects even easier.
Using a computer, the visual quality of still pictures and Bible texts is superior to DVD. DVD's generally do a better job at playing the short video clips that are interspersed throughout the sermons. But overall, the majority of the program will appear sharper and more detailed using the computer than the DVD. Video clips will not play quite as smooth and clear from a computer using PowerPoint, but they will be of acceptable quality.
With PowerPoint you are free to make changes to the order of the slides. You can delete slides, move slides to change the order, or combine slides from different programs. You can insert a picture that you have taken with a digital camera in to a sermon. You can do everything except actually change the words on the slides.
The PowerPoint distribution CDs/DVD-ROM simplify the installation process. The necessary files are all copied to your computer so you do not have to have the disk in the computer in order to present your sermons. Linking the video clips with the PowerPoint files is automatic under Windows. Mac users run a supplied macro to automatically link the video clip to the PowerPoint programs.
Sermon notes are included in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Find out about the unique features of the Truth for Today sermon notes by
clicking here. Sermon notes have also been translated in to several languages.
Most computers that are being sold today include the capability of playing MPEG-2 video clips. If your computer doesn't have that capability you can choose to install the more compatible MPEG-1 versions. It is also possible to purchase the system software that allows your computer to play MPEG-2. We recommend WinDVD from
www.intervideo.com. You can also search for "MPEG-2 Decoders" on a search engine to locate a variety of sources for this software.
System Requirements
In order to use the basic PowerPoint programs on Windows, you need to have a computer that has PowerPoint 2000 or later and can play MPEG-1 video clips.
To use the better quality (MPEG-2) video clips requires a faster computer with more memory and hard drive capacity. If your computer has a DVD-ROM drive and can play DVD titles, it probably is able to play the MPEG-2 versions of the video clips. Additional system software can be purchased that will enable most computers to be able to play MPEG-2 video. (See the links page for places to look for MPEG-2 decoder software.)
To print out the sermon notes included with the programs you will need a laser or inkjet printer.
